So…there goes another Christmas and New Years. The time has come to make the goals known as resolutions. I’d like to be able to remember 2009 as the year I finally made it as a data entry operator. I don’t want to be rich and famous but I would like to be able to make enough money working from home to be able to comfortably pay the rent and buy groceries. Is that too much to ask? The hard part, as always, is finding data to enter and the employer to pay. Finding the answer to the data entry conundrum has become my life’s work.

As I’ve mentioned a thousand times before, I make up every word of what I write in these blog posts and call myself a data entry operator as a result. It would be so much easier if someone could provide me the data. The energy it takes to say the same thing over and over again in different ways is more draining then you could possibly imagine. When I publishing an article every day it almost drove me mad in the end. That’s why I had this short break after Christmas. When I say Christmas I really mean the holiday season, of course.

The major companies are always on the lookout for new young guns when it comes to their typing pools. Red hot typing clerks gather every year in a showdown to showcase the best data entry talent in Australia. Competition is fierce and fought over four gruelling weeks in an intense round robin format. There is nothing more exciting than the thought of data entry operators typing to the death. These amazing cyber galactic warriors are relentless in their quest for bragging rights and the crystal trophy shaped like an ergonomic qwerty keyboard.

Last years winner was remembered for several weeks after the tournament and went on to start his own data entry business online. If the site of torn finger flesh and bloody keyboard keys excites you then I suggest you head on down and take a look. This is hardcore typing action at its most brutal and although there can only be one winner, no one goes away empty handed. Every single competitor truly believes that what doesn’t kill them will most certainly make them stronger. Can you see how exciting data entry work can be?

Are there any data entry jobs for Australians out there? There probably are but I couldn’t find one for the life of me back when I was searching. I can type consistently at around fifty words per minute with one hundred percent accuracy. Realistically, that is nowhere near good enough to get a job as a data entry operator in Australia or anywhere else for that matter. That’s why I had to get creative and come up with my own data to enter. The data I enter is sourced locally, insofar as it is concocted within the walls of my head. That’s the only way I could get a data entry job.

Australia is a big country with a small population. The amount of data entry clerks operating from the confines of their own homes is disproportionately large when compared to the entire population. That may or may not be true due to the fact that I just plucked that out of my imagination but I’m sure you get the point of my argument. The crux of my message revolves around my desire to work from home without exuding too much effort. At the end of the day I can still hold my head up high and declare my undying loyalty to the cause of data entry operators around Australia.

When I was looking for a home based data entry position I read one confusing job description after another. Employers seem to make things as complicated as possible, targeting the perfect employee when advertising jobs. They want motivated people who are willing to work for nothing, or people who show loyalty but don’t expect any in return. I’m quite happy being my own boss, thank you very much! Why anyone would want to go to a job interview and be judged by someone who has no right to judge is beyond me.

I’m sure if the shoe was on the other foot I’d be able to see the sense in what employer’s are doing when they write unrealistic, expectation-filled job descriptions. If I was looking for someone to help me out in my data entry business I’d like to employ someone who was willing to work long hours for free and not take holidays or sick days. That’s just stupid of course! I’ll just continue residing outside of the square, entering data like a well oiled machine and reaping all of the rewards. It’s my life and I’ll do what I want!

Data entry clerks type for cash. They also do other clerical work and office related activities and duties. I’m the first to admit that the work I do from home doesn’t benefit anyone but me, my family and my fans but I’m not apologising or making any excuses. The best thing about working from home is not having to answer to anyone. If I sleep in and start work late I am not hurting anyone but myself so I don’t have to make up excuses or act obsequiously. I just get on with the job at hand and do my best to catch up.

There is a lot more to life than just finding a job and talking about it at social gatherings. You should see the looks on people’s faces when I tell them I post articles on blogs for a living. They are generally both astounded and gob-smacked. Most of them have never heard of a data entry clerk who plies his trade from home. I never ask someone what they do for a living because I don’t think it should be an important factor in judging a person’s character. I’m more inclined to ask them what they do for fun. You should hear some of the answers I get!

Entering data in Australia is basically the same as entering data anywhere else in the world. Most data entry operators work for a company. They are set tasks which they must complete within certain time frames and the data they need to enter is usually supplied. I couldn’t find a company to supply me with data so I just started making it up. Before too long I realised that I was a self proclaimed data entry operator and the world was my oyster. My blog posts have been described as irreverent, irrelevant, funny, weird and stupid. You can’t please all of the people all of the time!

Australia is home to one of the most handsome data entry operators in the world…..me, but that’s old news. I play guitar and I find that typing regularly helps to improve my dexterity and hand eye coordination. The skills you use when working can invariably crossover to other aspects of your life. I could never work in a job that didn’t have some sort of positive impact on my life in some shape or form. If entering data in Australia has taught me anything, it has taught me to be patient and to keep my eyes on the prize.

There is good and bad in everyone and there are pros and cons to any employment situation. The benefits of working from home are many and varied. I work from home as a self-employed data entry operator because I believe the positive aspects to the occupation outweigh the negatives. I can type away all day in the comfort of my own little office without having to travel to some office in the city. I get to keep every cent I earn and I don’t have to answer to anyone else in the process. All of the data I enter is conjured up in my own brain so I am able to remain completely independent of anyone else.

I can take a break whenever I want and I can eat snacks all day. It is obviously important that I get the job done and maintain a high standard of workmanship at all times. It is equally important to ensure I don’t compromise when it comes to the quality of the data I choose to enter. My imagination seems to know no bounds so I think I will be performing data entry from home for the foreseeable future at least. I’d rather be working from home than commuting to some stupid job I don’t even want to do!

After typing a new blog post for 134 days in a row my brain finally snapped and I needed a few weeks off to collect my thoughts. Now I am back with a slightly less ambitious agenda. I plan to upload a new article to this site every three days or so. Entering data had become too much of a chore so it was important for me to sit back and take stock of the situation. There were times over the last month when I thought about getting a normal job. The thought of working from home in my data entry business did not appeal at all. I’m just going to take baby steps in an effort to complete my comeback successfully.

I would like to take this opportunity to apologise to my fans. I feel as if I have let you down on a very fundamental level. I’m terribly sorry. Please forgive me. Maintaining the level of data I was entering was always going to be hard but I truly believed I could do it. By writing prolifically I thought I would become the envy of all other data entry operators in Australia and around the world. I don’t know if I’ll be able to perform data entry from home for much longer but I’m going to give it my best shot.

I wonder how many people are performing data entry around Australia. There must be hundreds of individuals and teams working from home as typists or virtual office clerks. I imagine most of them would be involved in part time jobs while a lucky handful would be typing fulltime. Australia is the best country on Earth to be a home-based data entry operator and I’m not just saying that because I’m an Australian entering data for a living. It would be interesting to learn how each and every one of them found legitimate work on the internet.

I bet I’m the only data entry operator in Australia who makes up his own data to enter. Not only was it a brave move on my part but is was also bold and daring. I’m not one to take a backward step when it comes to matters of employment and when the opportunity to work from home presented itself I grabbed hold of it very tightly with both hands and I haven’t let it go. Everybody has a different approach when it comes to entering data and I’m no exception. There isn’t a data entry operator alive or dead who would argue with that!

I wish there was a place you could go to for information regarding work on the internet. If there was a home based career centre in Australia I would have somewhere in the vicinity of one hundred questions I’d like answered. Working from home as a data entry operator can get confusing at times and it would be invaluable to be able to contact an expert in the field and bounce ideas off them. As it stands, I have to go into the bathroom and talk to my own reflection in order to maintain a certain level of dialogue on the subject. I suppose it gives me a break from entering data for a minute.

When I chose to be involved in a home based career I was blissfully unaware of the risks and pitfalls that would eventually present themselves. How you deal with setbacks defines you as a business owner and, as most data entry operators know, dealing with setbacks can be a daily occurrence. My favoured method is to use the ‘ignore it and it will go away approach’ which has kept me in good stead up until this point. People who enter data for a living tend have an innate ability to shift focus one problem to another in the blink of an eye. What was I talking about?
