You can always tell who the keenest data entry clerks are. Take me for example, here it is on a beautiful Sunday morning in Australia and I’m typing away on another blog post for publication. While most of them are going fishing or spending quality time with their families, my mind is focussed solely on accumulating wealth. I admit I have a one track mind but I’m not making any apologies. I’ll enter data from sunrise to sunset, seven days a week because I want to retire with big fat bank account and a stress-free future.

Working from home should never be looked at as playing a game. There is no winning or losing, and there are no trophies or medals handed out to participants. There are rewards waiting for anyone willing to sacrifice their time and effort, but no crowds of adoring fans to chair you from the field. When I complete a particularly gruelling data entry session and my fingers are sore from typing for seven hours straight, I have been known to do a small victory dance to celebrate my efforts.

Everyone has their own opinion of what the ultimate profession is, don’t they? I’ve got no complaints about my data entry job. The fact that I get to work from home is also a really big bonus. That’s one of the main reasons why my occupation gets my vote. Most of you will scrunch up your faces and say typing is for losers, but you probably wouldn’t say that if you knew how much money I was making. Well……actually….you might. It’s not all about the money though, is it? Oh…..it is?

I can’t believe its Friday again already. Working from home can blur the transparent lines between weekday and weekend sometimes, but I’m happy that I decided to embrace this self employment opportunity with both hands. I do, however, find myself trying to justify calling myself a data entry operator when all I really do is type for this diary. I think the most important thing for me to remember is….everyone has a right to some sort of passive income at some time or other in their life, and this is mine.

I’d much rather work from home than go back to the horrible jobs I used to do before. I’ve got nothing against forklift drivers but I know in my heart of hearts that that profession is not the one for me. I completed a TAFE computer course back in 2002 and followed that with the web design course. I then got a job in SEO support where I learned to touch type and decided then and there to go out on my own and play to win. I’m happy to do data entry from home as opposed to commuting to an office for a typing job.

I love reading through the ‘positions vacant’ section of the classifieds in my local newspaper, don’t you? I particularly like reading the job descriptions of the data entry posts. I always avoid applying for any jobs where the ad stipulates that applicants need to be enthusiastic or bubbly. I’m neither of those things. My fear of the unknown has always shielded me from trying new things and stepping beyond the limits of my comfort zone. I enter data for a living because I’m comfortable doing that. Why the hell should I pretend to be enthusiastic about it?

It’s a beautiful Saturday morning and, once again, I’m sitting in front of my computer typing my fingers to the bone in an attempt to generate money. The whole idea behind starting my own data entry business was to make a bit of extra cash on the side, working evenings after my day job. Now I spend most of my waking hours at my PC trying to earn enough pay to maintain my lifestyle or at least put food on the table for my family. Well…I don’t really have the responsibility of providing for my family per se, but you know what I mean.

I took some time off from my usual hectic data entry schedule to eat out at our local Thai restaurant tonight. It is the middle of winter here so I needed to rug up. I grabbed a jacket out of the wardrobe that I haven’t worn for about 12 months and found a ten dollar note in one of the inside pockets. I just made ten bucks without having to do any work! Don’t you just love it when pay day comes early? I do. I wish I could establish a new career around finding money in neglected coat pockets.

Do you know anyone looking for a reliable data entry operator based in Australia? If you do, don’t bother telling me. I’m already working 24/7 typing this online wealth of wisdom. I’m sure I’d be able to pass all of the essential criteria for the post but what’s the point? I won’t truly fit the job description because, unfortunately, they broke the mould after I was created. If you’re ever in trouble, you’ll find me wherever there is data that needs to be entered. They call me the Data Entry Avenger! (no they don’t).

Everyone seems to think that being your own boss is the be all and end all but that’s not necessarily the case. Home based clerks, like myself, struggle to make ends meet like any other employee in the workforce. Well…that’s not exactly true. All I do is type these blog posts and call myself a data entry operator, and get paid for the privilege. You won’t find me whining about how unfair my job is or how my manager doesn’t treat me well. I love working from home and hope I never have to go back to the way things were before.
