Searching for casual positions can be an utter waste of time, especially if you’re not interested in working part time. Why would you bother looking for a legitimate data entry job online if you’re not attracted to the prospect of working from home as a typist? It’s hard to work some people out, isn’t it? There are those among us who get obsessed with employment opportunities and there are others who never give any thought to their career path. Boy, am I glad I established my data entry business when I did? Talk about striking while the iron is hot!

It’s hard to avoid being stressed when your job is not secure. My casual data entry job is great but could terminate at any time without explanation or warning. My success is based on maintaining a certain level of traffic to my websites and blogs. Search results are out of my hand so I have no control over how many people get to read my articles. It’s hard to sustain any sort of happiness when you’re not sure when the money is going to dry up. Does casual employment kill? Not directly but over a long period of time…..probably.

If you’re happy to just scrape by, paying your rent every fortnight and having enough left over for groceries, then my casual approach works. If you want to be a millionaire you’re not going to do it by following my lead. I’d like to earn more money but I’m too laid back. In order to accumulate wealth I’d have to enter a lot more data than I’m willing to enter. My casual data entry job is boring. When I reach the point where I believe I’ve made enough money I have to stop. After all, you’re only as good as the last batch of data you entered, aren’t you?

I’m pretty excited about the Rugby League World Cup starting tomorrow but that’s no excuse for me to sit here all day reading the news about it. I’ve got data to enter and the sooner I enter that data the sooner I can read about football (in New South Wales that’s rugby league). This ties in pretty directly with what I’ve said about avoiding distractions when you work from home. It’s even more difficult when your job is based on the internet. All of the information related to your business may be found online but so is a lot of other irrelevant stuff. There’s a time and a place to focus on your hobbies and interests, and there’s a time and a place for data entry.

What can I say about my casual employment situation that hasn’t already been said? I’ve told you how much trouble I had trying to find an online data entry job and how I ended up just creating this blog to vent my frustration. I’ve told you how much I enjoy typing and that my imagination has no bounds. I don’t know if there is anything more I can say about data entry work without sounding like someone who thinks they have the right to sell their opinions as fact. If you want to work from home I suggest you start straight away, insofar as it would be smart to avoid the rush.

I’ve made a fair amount of money working as a data entry clerk and I’m worth every cent. There are other people typing from home for a job in Australia but I’m probably in the top three when looks are taken into consideration. When I’m not in front of my computer completing the tasks and duties involved in finishing my job, you’ll find me down at the local café with my laptop, drinking hot chocolate and writing articles for my websites and blogs. Making money is my primary concern today as it is on most Thursdays throughout the year.

The best thing about basing your business at home and being your own boss is the lack of work related stress you have to endure. Sometimes I put myself under a bit of pressure by trying to complete my data entry tasks within a certain timeframe but mostly I am relaxed and ready for anything. My chosen profession gives me the freedom to be flexible with my work hours and as a result I have been guilty of exhibiting lazy behaviour on more than several occasions. At the end of the day I make sure I get the job done because I know that I am the only one who will suffer if I don’t.

Whether you choose to work from home or not usually comes down to individual lifestyle choices. Not all workers want to be based at home. A lot of people want secure jobs where a boss tells them exactly what tasks need to be performed and when they need to be completed by. There are a handful of folks who have taken the plunge and started their own online business. I am a fulltime data entry operator working from home in my own business. I have hired myself on a casual basis and, up until this point, I have had no problems with me.

I’ve been trying to secure the ideal employment situation for a number of years now to no avail. A data entry position that allows me to work from home would be my perfect job. Writing, typing and maintaining this blog is a good start but really isn’t what I was looking for when my job search started a few years ago. A casual, part time position would be good because I’d like to have flexible hours so I can be spontaneous and carefree at all times. If I want to take leave or just have a day off, I’d like to have the freedom to do so.
