If you can get employed in any position that entails some sort of data entry component, you are bound to be involved in a joyful job. What could possible make anyone happier than typing non-stop for eight or more hours a day. Imagine mindlessly tapping away on a computer keyboard until your fingertips hurt. Oh, the joy! I’ve known some data entry clerks that prefer to work in the evening on a part-time basis, but I like to know that the sun is shining while I’m sitting in a cold, dark room entering data like a will-o’-the-wisp.

Wouldn’t it be nice if the world was perfect and everyone could sit in the sunshine down at the river all day? Well, it’s not a perfect world and, unfortunately, money matters to most people more than anything else. Take me for example, I work from home as a self-styled data entry clerk and I like to check my earnings every few hours. I’m obsessed. It’s a bit like watching grass grow at the moment but I’m looking forward to the day when I get a giant surprise. The only way that’s going to happen is if I continue to work hard at my job and be the best employer I possibly can.

I have to be careful of overachieving when it comes to my new business venture. If I do too much data entry from home and become too successful I will seriously have to consider downsizing myself. It’s hard when you’re as good as I am to know when to stop. When I’m typing away in my basement, in front of my computer, I get into the zone and nothing can stop me as I type like the wind. The only problem with downsizing is the fact that I’m my only employee, so if I fired myself there would be no one left to enter the data that so desperately needs to be entered.

I’ve made a fair amount of money working as a data entry clerk and I’m worth every cent. There are other people typing from home for a job in Australia but I’m probably in the top three when looks are taken into consideration. When I’m not in front of my computer completing the tasks and duties involved in finishing my job, you’ll find me down at the local café with my laptop, drinking hot chocolate and writing articles for my websites and blogs. Making money is my primary concern today as it is on most Thursdays throughout the year.

The reason I decided to base my data entry job at home was to take advantage of the excellent working conditions here. I have a comfortable chair in front of my computer and the room is usually kept at a reasonable temperature. I can get my work done and feel safe and secure in my home environment. As anyone who has done it knows, data entry can be very boring so it’s important to make sure your home office is set up correctly to induce good performance. I am self-employed so it’s vital for me to pay myself on time to avoid staff problems.

If you have high expectations you leave yourself vulnerable and open to great disappointment. When I started this blog I thought it would lead to instant success and that didn’t eventuate. I’ve learned to not get too excited about the future when it comes to my data entry position. Sure, it’s a great job now but it may not end up being the fantastic long term career choice I thought it was going to be. Working from home can be fun but I have to keep reminding myself that things can change at any moment and I could be forced on to the street to die in the gutter.

Data entry positions have been traditionally held by women since the dawn of the typewriter. Lately, however, the balance is being addressed with feminine males like me putting in the hard work and typing from home like demons in drag. I wanted to learn to type from a very young age and despite pressure from male family members and rougher elements of the wider community, I turned my dream into a reality. My hard work paid off recently when I established my own data entry business. At last I can call myself a professional typist and not be lying!

Surprise, surprise, surprise, it’s Sunday morning and I’m sitting in front of my computer typing my life away. I’m finding it harder and harder to live up to my self-proclaimed title of Australia’s most handsome, home-based data entry clerk. I will soldier on though. One day I will hit the big time and be famous on the international data entry circuit. Everyone will think I’m an overnight success without seeing the years of hard work behind the scenes. It can be easy to be overlooked by people when you work from home. That’s why I always wear a fluorescent vest when I go to the shops.

My friends think I am a typing machine. They accuse me of spending more time working from home as a data entry operator than I do socialising with them. They’re right to a certain extent but I have been trying to limit the amount of time I allocate to entering data as part of my home business. I can’t help it if my profession rocks! They are probably just jealous because they hate their jobs and can’t stand to see me so happy in my chosen occupation. With friends like these who needs enemas? I’ve only been working evenings for the last couple of months anyway.

One negative side to working from home on your own is the fact that you don’t have any co-workers to communicate with. You run the risk of becoming withdrawn and socially inept. When I’m having a particularly bad day I can’t share it with the other data entry operators working online because we are all toiling away in a virtual world, never meeting face to face. There are no co-workers to unite to help you face your cause head on. You are all alone, doing as good a job as possible with the tools nature provided you with on the day you were born.
